When to change timing belt?

Can anyone tell me after how many miles you should change the timing belt on a 2000 6n2 Polo tdi?

The petrol is 60,000 or 5 years, not sure if Diesels are the same.

Yup as above, i just changed mines at my service at 52k tho.

Mines a 6 year old car.....dont have any service history or anything but it only has 18,000 miles on her.......should I change the belt?

I never let a belt get past 4 years or 40k. I've heard of belts going at 45k on many cars, plus age takes its toll on the rubber.

I got mine replaced at VW dealer for £160.00 including tensioner & alternator belt. On my wife's MK1V, they charged £214.00. They said the MKV is easier to work on. They even cleaned the car afterwards!
