Corrosion Problems

My Polo seems to be suffering with some corrosion problems. I'm just wondering whether any of these are covered by warranty. I'm going crazy enough as it is with the amount of deep scratches and stone chips I'll already need to fork out and get fixed

I just found some big scratches on my roof that weren't there yesterday, yet I haven't been near the roof

Anyway...
Base of aerial. Surely this ain't wear and tear:
Boot handle all bad at the top. It also has bubbles on the inside:
Next, cracks in the paint just under the rear lights on both sides:
Finally marks on the roof where paint is bubbling from the underside, and in awkward places too:
Some of it must be under warranty (though what worries me is my local VW dealer in notorious for not fixing stuff properly and damaging customers cars)

The bodies are supposed to be covered by a warranty (I think its possibly up to 10 years) as they are galvanised! My brother in law's '99 T-plate Bora suffered some corrosion and he got in touch with VW, they sorted it out with no hassle
The rear boot handle is a common problem, mine has some paint damage including a chip off it at one point
Cheers

It's the remains of the rubber that has corroded away

There is a repair kit available for the aerial base

Aerial will be wear and tear because it's exposed to the elements 24/7 so I'd say not a warranty issue.
Boot handle as mentioned above is a common problem so again probably not a warranty issue.
The cracks under the rear lights I think happen to everyone so I'd say the same again.
The little bits on the roof I'm sure are plastic so probably won't be covered.
But as for the actual roof rails I'm not too sure.

A lot of the guys at the local VW forum reckon it may have had a bad paint job done on it before and maybe even panels replaced

roof rails arent covered....its only the shell...all parts that can come off arent covered...well thats what the VW guys said anyway.

From the photos you have shown they are all common problems, I had everyone bar the aerial one on my Polo. As said above none are covered by warranty (three VW garages told me this) as they are not part of the main shell. I got a quote of £200 from a bodyshop short the lot including respraying the bonnet for stone chips.
I wouldn't worry about the car having a respray before if these are the only signs, you could get a paint thinkness meter which would prove it either way.

when i had my 1.4 polo i had rust on the rear arch and VW fixed it for me and i didnt pay a penny.
Even when they did a shocking paint job i refused to take it back until it was properly sorted and they did it no fuss.
They re sprayed it 4 times for me coz i wasnt happy.
Its worth asking because if you dont ask you dont get!
Good luck with it hun xxx

I may ask if I'm down there. I'm lucky to have a cheap bodyshop up the road from me. £200 sounds a good price to fix it all plus a bonnet respray. I'd buy a bonnet bra if only they looked good

They can supposedly cause problems sometimes because of stuff getting under them or something
