Hi guys....
I have a mk2 squareback (round headlight model) was just wondering, can mk3 square headlights and grill fit in place of my round ones? I know derby one's are the best bet but its getting hold of a set. Any other lights fit?

Also does mk3 front and rear seats, doorcards, rear quarters and center console fit?

Thanx Nick

upgrade your round lights is best option, there are many custom fit replacements available with halogens in etc

The mk2 and 3 fronts body panels are completly different. You would need to change the wings, the bonnet the gill and the lights. My mk3 has a different slam panel, even the bonnet support arm is different. By the looks of it a different style cross member and valance has been used too.

The front ends don't just unbolt either, the wings have sealant to prevent rust, this is a royal pain in the arse to get off. A lot of the panels are also spot welded underneath too, therfore even more difficult to get at.

Mk2 Headlights aren't any worse than mk3 ones, they just don't look as modern. The reason a lot of mk3 owners headlights look brighter is due to a chap named Steve-O from club polo who made a batch of uprated wiring looms for a mk3 polo. These looms do fit the mk2 but are tighter to fit than to a mk3. With this the lights are greatly improved, this is by far the best headlight upgrade available. To fit these to a mk2 the cables will be fairly tight, you will need to remove the grill and run it behind that avoiding the bonnet catch.

My dipped beam headlights are comparable to Marks mk3, his bulbs have twice the power of mine, his main beams may reach further due to the shape of the lights and better allignment but with my driving lights (the small middle pair) my lights are far far brighter.

The mk2/3 seats are a straight swap. Corrado seats are also a straight swap and are far more comfortable and give you much better head clearance and can be raised just as high as polo seats if you want them to.

I don't think the centre console will fit without the mk3 dash, the same goes for the front door cards, the will look silly and out of place and will need some bodging. The mk2 centre console can be sourced from a breakers and will definately fit.
