Whining noise

Hiya chaps,

hopefully you can help. For the past 2 weeks or so when driving my car, i have noticed a whining sound as i accelerate, it gradually gets louder the faster i go/more i accelerate. My cambelt is due to be changed, and I will be booking this in to the garage soon. I just didn't know if it was because of that, or something else. Anyone else had a similar problem? I am concerned it may be the clutch, and at worst the gearbox.
The quote i have off a local garage (reputable though) for cambelt, tensioners changed and full 60k service is as follows

Labour - £64.28
Parts (Full belt kit inc. tensioners etc) - £76.90
Water pump - £42.70
Full 60k service - £160

How does that sound :?: I presume it's all plus v.a.t. anyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

cheers guys...i'll book it in to dubsport and ask them to check it over - not the best of timings with me having a cambelt change and major service...i'm already up to around the £500 mark :(

Thanks for the replies though :)
