Gti Sunroofs and no Sunroofs and Engine Codes

Does anyone know why some polo gti's have a sunroof and manual climate and some electronic climate control and no sunroof ??
Was it something to do with the first lot of them ?
Or just the diff options available as new ?
The same as the dimming mirrors, Rain wipers etc
As the later ones have an AVY (2001 etc) engine code.
And me a ARC coded one.

Mine is a 2000, with an AVY engine code. And i have climate control....and no sunroof

I have a 2000 'W'-plate GTi with a sunroof, manual A/C and an ARC powerplant
You're on the right lines Richard - the earliest of the GTi's are "pre-alignment" so the specifications differ slightly amongst the 'V' and 'W' plate cars. By the time later vehicles were being built the spec had been standardised across all cars I think. Which is why most have Climate Control! The sunroof was an optional extra IIRC.

I'm sure this has been discussed before. It was as if VW couldn't make their mind up what to put in them when the GTi first came out. The interior panels and seatbelts were different colours on some as well.
Mine is a 2000 W reg with an ARC engine, air-con, no sunroof and red door cards but black seatbelts.

I'm sure there will be a few later Polo GTi owners on here. The ARC engines were the early ones, supposedly

Yeh, I am AVY - or AUY as i told the mechanic doing my cambelt
