Nope, not tried them. I have the standard Bosch plugs each time every time. Have heard that using other plugs can cause irregular running but this doesn't mean that the ones you are looking at will be the same :)

It's far better sticking to OEM stuff or NGK (which make most OEM plugs anyway so will be exactly the same), ive heard about aftermarket ones shattering Champion are the worst apparently but Bosch arnt much better.

These Splitfire and other multi electrode ones are a right load of crap, you cant beat Platinum tipped OEM or NGK Platinum, they are one in the same if NGK make the OEM bits for the car manufacturer.

According to the Haynes manual, VW recommend NGK plugs.

Well, funnily enough, again from the Haynes manual, the Bosch recommended plugs are the Bosch ones! (Wonder why?). So take your pick really; guess it's down to personal preference out of the 2 brands recommended. :?

Mind you Haynes manuals reccomend champion oil filters aswell  Id never put one of them on my car, for a start they are about 2/3 of the size of the OEM one (how the hell can it perform as well at filtering )

I rekon Haynes get payed to recommend the Champion/Bosch stuff because anyone in the know knows they are tacky.

Seriously stick with OEM, your getting far better quality and reliability in your parts.

Yep, I agree; I always buy VW oil & flters and the filters are actually cheaper then the Champion equiv. Not only that, the VW ones have an attachment for a socket - very handy for removing!
