my exhasut needs replacing so thinking of putting a performance exhasut on it instead! any ideas from people? ideally i wana keep the tail pipe hidden like standard but i dont think you can get any like that?

You can get hidden tailpipes and can get custom exhausts made by powerflow, etc. im sure more people who know more about it will give u more info

I'm waiting for a hidden exhaust as well. I think supersprint are developing one.

I would have gone for a custom exhaust but in the end you get what you pay for, QUALITY.

If you go to a company that does custom systems, you can have the tailpipe hidden. I went to Powerflow and had exactly this done with mine. Asked the guy to keep the pipework standard size (50mm aka 2"), cost £210

That would be sweet if Supersprint produced one.

Supersprint do one for the mk4 Golf, if I'm not mistaken PVW fitted the prototype to their black mk4 Golf. Looks great, very subtle. If a system was produced for the Polo, even I would want one!

I would also prefer a discreet tailpipe if I was to replace the exhaust (I have no plans to).

The only possible issue with the discreet tailpipe, is that they can sometimes make the sound quite boomy inside the cabin, compared to straight through exhaust tips.

If your looking for noise go with powerflow, not for performance at all.

I went to Powerflow got them to make the exhaust to the standard spec, with hidden taipipe. £250 all in, life time guaranty as long as you keep the car, (which i will be, as i now own it outright). What more can you ask for.

Your looking at Supersprint mate for that.

A high performance exhaust manifold is where most of the power can be gained.

When I had my system installed, the first effort was very boomy once you reached and maintained 4,000rpm. I had the tailpipe remodelled (at no extra cost) to be the same as the OE spec system and this has quietened everything down nicely. Something to look out for though, definitely! Nice catch

I disagree. If you do not want a noisy exhaust Powerflow can make a subtle system for you. My brother in law's old Polo 6n 16v had a Powerflow, when he had it fitted he explicitely instructed the garage to make the exhaust as quiet as possible, no louder than standard. And this is exaclty how it was done - you would have no idea that the exhaust wasn't standard until he hit the high revs under acceleration, when it had a good rasp to it
