New member, new GTI

G'day from Oz

I've been looking around the site over the last couple of weeks, having a great time checking out the fantastic info and pics of members' cars.

I'm particularly interested in the new GTI as I've just recently picked mine up (1 week ago) but it is also great to see so many Polos in one place as Polo numbers are much thinner on the ground here in Australia.

I've included a few photos of mine - hope they work out OK as it's my first post. The car is going to have the APR ecu reflash when run in (gives around 200hp/320Nm) and will be lowered some time in the not too distant future.

Cheers

Welcome, think your the first person on here with a new 9n3 gti!

Alloys look great but it definitely needs lowering.

Second person

All the other one seemed to do though was go on about how the 6N2 GTi isn't worthy of the GTi badge etc

By the way, welcome to the site mate and the car looks good.

welcome! love your alloys, i'm not too hot on the alloys that the GTi comes with in the UK, if i were to buy one i'd have to get some different rims for it

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I can't lower the car too much because of the country travel I do and roads I need to negotiate, but some lowering, yes! Also, an APR ecu upgrade, definitely high on the list.

I didn't like the standard alloys either, hence the optional VW wheels. In Oz, the standard alloys are 16" versions of the new Golf GTI wheels. I am happy with the look of the new wheels. They probably look better in the metal as they have a polished, machined edge contrasting against the silver spokes and centres.

Knaps, the mods you've made to your Polo seem very interesting. Do you have any photos on the forum yet?

Thanks yet again for the friendly welcome guys.

The wheels are optional VW (in the Polo GTI brochure) here in Oz, called 'Siata' and they're 17" wearing 205/40 x 17 Toyo proxes tyres.

Just took the car on a 340km trip today and it ran 'purr'fectly, averaging around 8.1L/100km sitting on 110-130kph. I imagine the economy will improve as the engine is run in. Quick and comfortable.

The wheels on mine may just just be an Oz option.
I love the look of your motor 'york'. The wheels look great with the car's lowered stance. Reminds me a bit of the look of my previous car, a Clio 182 Cup. Same colour, with contrasting anthracite (dark grey) alloys. I hope the comparison isn't offensive to you.
