How to remove a coilpack URGENT!

I want to change my sparkplugs so I removed my airbox to find that i had coilpacks and not the usual HT leads.
I tried to pull the coilpacks out without any tools and they would not come out. Any ideas on how I can remove these? Im aware of a special VW tool available to remove these (as said on Elsawin) but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. anything i can use alternatively to yank them out without damaging them???
Also there is the live power markings on the coilpacks. Are they usually live even when the car is off or something? or is it the same principle as HT leads and am I meant to disconnect the lead once its raised up or can I leave them connected when pulled out and then can just whip the old plugs out and stick the new ones in?
