Potentially knackered pedal box

Well, my GTi apparently had the pedal box recall work done a couple of years ago now.

However over the past few weeks I've noticed various creaks, rattles and "cracking" noises coming from the bulkhead on the drivers side. Originally it was only when the clutch pedal was fully depressed, but now it's also when braking as well, obviously when theres pressure on the pedal and pedal box.

Hasn't been any noticeable effect on the gearbox with regards to difficulty changing gear so far.

So I think I'm going to have to get it looked at, and if it has failed I'll be looking to Volkswagen to cover a fair proportion of the cost.

As it is a recall item i would expect them to pick up 100% of the cost.

Did you buy it from VW in the first place? or a street garage/private sale etc...?

P.S have you lowered your car or added low profiles?, the wheels are looking nice!

The gearbox is notchy by design I'm afraid. Just you wait until a crisp cold winter morning (we're talking around the freezing mark) and the cold gearbox will be even notchier :P

If you get really concerned about it, arrange to meet a fellow GTi owner and have a little go in theirs (with their consent) and see how the two cars compare :)
