mk 4 suspension mods. G MAX SPRINGS AND SHOCKERS - 50MM

hi, can anyone help me?i have just fitted Gmax -50 shocks and springs. they were fitted using the standard rubber cushions which were taken from the old front struts. the problem is that the springs clang when using full lock. has anyone experienced similar and how do i rectify it?

I have on my old Pug 106. I looked at the spring while my bro turned the steering from lock to lock. 2 coils were rubbing over each other and going clang clang which sounds very similar to what you describe. We stripped the struts out again and realised that the bearing at the top wasn't the right way up. Maybe its the same with this or the strut top arrangement hasn't been put back in the same way as it came off. Theres a good diagram in the haynes manual showing the order. Once I got it in the right order the clanging stopped. Know it wasn't a polo but might be worth checking as they all use similar principles. Good look.
