Hey guys,
Looking to see what you guys rekon your 3 cylinder beasts

can do 0-60 in?
I heard 14.9 secs mentioned somewhere, i was almost sick.
Prove them wrong please, tell me something re-assuring.
Im guessing thers not a lot i can do to get this 0-60 quicker? other than buying a new car.
Cheers

14.9 is about right for a book speed. Volkswagen seem conservative though in my opinion. i think you will find it is slightly faster.
you could always put a 1.8turbo in if you want to go faster

i drove 7 miles with my 3cylinder 55bhp beast and that was more than enough for me
a 1.8t 6 speed in a 9n is easier than most people think
thats if you can afford the insurance

did you do the conversion yourself?
i was thinking of doing this but mines a diesel, so i would have to sell and buy a petrol!!
i didnt know anyone had done this conversion. did the golf engine and 'box line up easily? how much different was the wiring loom/abs/traction control/key coding etc?

the 6 speed is easy to fit really, some 9ns come with 6 speeds standard so it aint too big
you will get better 0-60 times with a 5 speed if thats what ya after

I'd love to hear what the insurance companies would have to say when they hear that a 17 year old has just swapped a 3 cylinder 55bhp engine for a 1.8 turbo!!!
Disgusting
Cheers guys,
Ell

Probably the same as they did when I got a quote on a TVR T350-C
A lot, although I'm still going to get one when I'm 21.
They might even want you to be a certain age for it.
