has anyone tried out that v-power diesel from shell.. flippin' heck it makes a helluva difference!! tried it out on the weekend and boy i can tell u honestly its no gimmick unlike BP ultimate diesel! it improved acceleration so much, alot smoother, and was easily reaching unmentionable speeds! plus i got decent miles out of it even after thrashing it.. about 124 miles from 10 litres!! its just as good as their unleaded optimax which i've tried out in my bro's mk4 golf gti, the only fuel he ever uses... and now i think im gonna be doing the same! the only problem is they sell it in very few stations, only 30 across the whole country according to their website... yesterday i actually i drove 7 miles just to fill the car up with it again!

On the petrol side of things, I'm a regular user of BP Ultimate unleaded and have found it to be pretty good. If I had the choice though I'd use Shell's V-Power for three or four fills and see how that goes. Unfortunately though, there is no Shell garage within 12 miles of my home!!

Shell's V-Power unleaded, at 99RON, is a higher octane than BP's Ultimate unleaded (97RON). Is this the same with the premium diesel fuels, ie. Shell more refined/higher octane than BP?

Shell V-Power petrol is bloody amazing as well.

with V-power i get around 31-32mpg. plus the added bonus of a highly improved and smoother throttle response.

without V-power i get anything between 23 and 27mpg (depending on which other s**t fuel im using).

it might be 6 or 7p a litre more, but if you work out the cost savings over a tank you actually save money in the long term.

did a fuel calculation, a year of V-power would cost about £1700 in petrol (i drive a fair bit) and a year of sainsburys petrol for the SAME AMOUNT OF MILAGE would be around £1960.

not bad at all! :)

if ur in it to get the nectar points and u like BP ultimate diesel.. as i recall BP give out nectar points too anyway!

Again this weekend i went to visit the old folks out in the country (essex!) and from the 20 quid fill up last week, which was about 20 litres, i managed about 267 miles which after attempting a few calculations works out 50+ mpg! just wasn't sure of the exact figure for how many litres in a gallon :? can i just say bass mekanik, i gotta commend u for doing the fuel calculation for a year but also u must have alot of spare time on your hands to do that!

The diesel I use is that special it's even a different colout ;)

Nothing beats a 70's Perkins Diesel engine, they run on any old crap. :D

I have been using the stuff for about two/three weeks now & would have liked to post about it, if i'd time any sooner. It returns good economy (down to driving type & style), and the motor seems to like it.

The last time when I was away from home on the opposite end of London - I drove to 4 different Shell's to find the stuff (light bulb clicked on & checked shell's website for the 4th pump). I need another tank now

At nearly 98p a litre it isn't cheap, saying that its the same price as BP's ultimate diesel.

when i put BP ultimate diesel in my car it was 104.9ppl!!!!!
i would use BP all the time but the nearest station to me is 4 miles away!! and they do give out nectar points!

ps-i always use 4.55 litres to a gallon for my calculations!
