Anyone had this before? I might just be a rubber hanger that has come off (I hope so).

yeah, i think if you look under neath your car about half way down the centre pipe there is a bracket and above the bracket there is somekind of heatsheild mine was that, it kept brushing against it, removed: problem sorted
