i found out that the car i bought came from the factory with no speakers and no sound system installed. (a mkII squareback) i guess my question is as follows: will i need to install everything including wiering from the battery and such? or will there be wires hidden for the player? other than that im thinking 4x6 speakers in the back and maybe a sub. any comments or suggestions welcome

I suspect that you you would have to wire everything judging by my experience with my 2003 MkVI model.

Though I have front speakers (and thus wiring), I do not have rear speakers. The car does not come pre-installed with the wiring for the rear speakers and I have to do the wiring myself (or get a pro to do it).

So you probably have to do the same.
