Nice!!
I can vouch for the Predator brake pads, I have those paired with my standard discs and they're great, loads less brake dust!
I bet you're looking forward to covering a couple of hundred miles, bedding in the brakes and pads and then finding out what they're
really like

Didn't use it in the end, but was just incase the Carrier to Swivel hub bolts were seized and needed warming up.

They look ace. Are you just upgrading the fronts?
Do the GTI brakes as standard honestly need upgraded or are they totally fine as they are? If so, i take it this is for the pimp factor??

IMHO unless you are planning big power upgrades the standard brakes are up to the job. However, I understand that the 280mm conversion means that you can stop quicker and/or brake harder? So... if you are spending less time braking, you will be spending more time accelerating
haha!
Oh and yes, they look bloody great filling up almost the entire space behind the front wheels

No at all. Standard GTi brakes are crap. The upgrade improves braking greatly, just the way it should of been in the first place. honest

When you ordered the disc's, did you just order Golf G60 ones, or are they special??
I'm very tempted to do this myself, I had a VR6 before with Brembo's on, they where outstanding, when I first got the GTI I thought there was a problem with them!!

I'm also of the opinion the Gti brakes are not sufficient as standard.
They do not inspire confidence when braking, especially when needing to slow down quickly from 60/70/80 mph. They are pretty much fine below those speeds though IMO.
I have the parts to do the 280mm conversion, I just need the time now.

Yes you just need discs from any manufacturer intended for the G60, they will then fit straight on with the G60 caliper carriers.

That is the exact setup i was looking at getting.
Would be really interested in knowing how much it cost you all in, and also what the performance is like when they are bedded in.
I had 295mm discs on my Mk3 and ever since, no brakes are good enough.
TBH the GTi brakes scare me sometimes when driving fast, not enough bite !

Halfords Brake Caliper paint. 3 Coats, 24hr cure
