On the 29th I came round a round-a-bout at 30mph (too fast for that one).

So naturally , i slammed the brakes on, and had full lock to the right. Then hit the curb, so the tyres were parallel with the curb, but the bonnet was at 90 degrees with it (if you get me)

That was the result, had to have it towed home, not to VW because I was going to Scotland in 5 hours. It got taken to VW yesterday, and had to pay £88 for them to LOOK at it.

Taken off the insurance now, BRILLIANT

I hope your ok, have you had any injuries at all? Is the damage to the car that bad? I'm sure it can be fixed judging from the pictures.

Don't worry when I writ-off my first car I was in shock, literally shock and was always quiet but got over it soon enough.
Hopefully it isn't a writ-off but yea, as long as your ok

It was on South Parade Road, just opposite the pyramids centre.

I went to a party in there at the glass room or whatever its called. the party was rubbish, so i left, then that happened.

Vw phoned and said, "the car has experienced excessive force due to the speed, and there was a loss of traction due to the tyres being very low on tred.

Yeah, are there many of us in Portmsouth? ive seen a couple of polos, and put them up on 'was that you', but got nothing.

Should arrange some sort of meet (when im back on the road preferably) although, i'd still come, id just take my parents 9N2!

2 of my best mates have polos and i know of a few more, there is a dubscene meet on the 17th i think?? im not sure if im going to go yet though

ahhh remember seein u near uni one morning, its on the eastern road i think, i doubt i will be going to this one though as my car is going in for some top secret work

if you need a hand sourcing parts of fitting them for your repairs drop me a pm as i know a few mechanics, sprayers etc

Cheers mate, i'll bare that in mind, its looking like this is gonna be quite expensive to sort out.

VW are getting me a quote, but the trouble is, i cant drive the car at all, its completely broken, so i cant take it around places getting quotes, because pressumably they'll need to see it?

if you get your quote from vw you will know what needs fixing, so you could get rough estimates from that?

For new steering arm, wheel and bearing carrier, drive shaft, steering rack and anti roll stuff.

Very very very angry , but only £350 really, cause insurance will HAVE to sort it.

S*** happens, and so do accidents, annoying though, means i miss the dub scene meet.

Ouch! - - Thats quite alot really, looking at the damage, didnt think it would be that much. Mine was only £4,500, and that needed a whole new back end, with £1500 worth of labour I think.

I suppose thats the difference in price between bodywork(mine) and all the mechanical stuff(yours) (+ mine wasn't at a VW garage, so the labour wasn't an extortionate amount )

Did you have much no claims to lose, thats the worse thing about going through insurance - but obviously it wont compare to that 2 Grand

could you not look at repairing it yourself or having it done at a cheaper garage?

will save a lot of money and will save your insurance too

Yea that price is a killer but as Gra-GT said, probably better off going through insurance company as you would still probably save more money in your pocket even if your premium goes up.
