Engine!!

Hey. I got a 2000 gti but its got high mileage. It would be ok but i drive it reasonably hard.
Thinking of rebuilding the engine+gearbox. Anyone had this done? If so how much was it and can anyone recommend a good place to get it done where they know these engines.
Such a good, fun little motor. Absolutely love the car just wish it was like it's meant to be
