My 1.2 polo having trouble starting!!

A few months ago my polo had trouble starting, not everytime only occasianly but wen it did start the car would shake for about 20 seconds i took it into my local garage he changed spark plugs n cleaned something called ventura or sumething like that :? , thought it was fine then went to start it last night and it wouldnt start for about 10 mins! can any1 shine any light on it?

is it petrol or diesel?

More than often it's one of the coil packs (equivalent of the spark plug)

It's a petrol engine btw :wink:

Take it the engine management light came on with this?

no the engine management didnt come on, the engine management light did come on about 8 months ago tho, and he put it on his computer and couldnt find anything rung so he turned it off. ive started it up today and its fine and probly will be for another couple of months :?

The shaking is probably caused by a cylinder not firing up correctly - which as mentioned by SiDaba is most probably the coilpacks. This could be a early notice of them going, they don't always bring up the emissions lamp.

Ideally try changing the coilpacks and see how that goes

i think it would be around 100-150 at a garage?

i know my mate had his fiesta done and it cost 95pounds.

Each cylinder has its own coilpack for the 9N Petrol engines, instead of HT leads. It is a pretty easy to do yourself even if your not mechanically minded. In terms of parts originals cost around £21-25 and OEM ones from GSF or Eurocarparts are around £12-15. Probably need 3-4

n1 tho, friends got a 9n so if she has any probs i'll know what it is... just lol
