Hey all! I'm new to this forum, and can i say this website is 10/10! brilliant!
I have a 2003 1.2 polo, and bought it 2nd hand. The car is brilliant, however experiencing a few problems!

In the past few months, I have had problems with the coil packs (I believe?) and went to the VW dealers to fix this. VW being great, fixed this free of charge and this happened on 2 seperate occasions. I think the 3rd Coil pack has failed today, as the warning lights have come up again (engine light on dashboard) They said that this was a common problem and they have made new coil packs which don't have this problem. I'm not complaining, as they also wash my car after the job
Does anyone with this car have the same problems i've had?

Also I am wanting to buy some new alloys, Sorry about the previous posts about alloy fittings, but i'm getting confused with all these Settings (easily confused sorry :S lol) can someone double check if this fitting will fit my car?

Offset: 42
Studs: 5
Tyre Width: 205
Aspect Ratio: 55
Load Index: 91

i drive the same polo and i have recently put aftermarket wheels on, which are very similar, 42 offset, 205, although mines are 45. just curious, what size are you planning on buyin, i am currently sitting on 17" with a 30mm drop with no rubbing.

I am thinkin of 16 inch, but maybe 17inch ones... however, i am worrried of the tyres rubbing on the arch if i have 17 inch? Especially when i have stock suspension etc? Do you think that would be a problem?

Also, does the stud diameter HAVE to be 5x100? I have seen some alloys but are stud diameter 114. Will this not fit? Thanks Dan

Coilpacks - There is a modified coilpack - as long as all are replaced with new versions this should not be a problem (..theres loads of posts on coilpacks, just use the search function mate)

Wheels - only 5x100 will fit. Shouldnt have problems with 17s on stock suspension (unless you plan on taking humps at silly speeds) But tyre ratio must be Width: 205 Aspect Ratio: 40

sorry about this history lesson but going back to the 1950s my dad had problems with ignition coils , they would burn out ,there was only one , it did all 4 cyls.so the manufacturers filled them with oil to keep them cool and they were as far away from the engine as posible as heat destroyes them . have you got this you inexperienced university so called engineers at vw. paul motor engineer . blackpool.
