Hey guys and Girls.

I've just bought an F reg 1.0 polo (squareback ?).

Firstly can anyone tell me the specs of this car?
Is it a mk 2?
What is the horsepower and weight of it?

I plan to put the engine & gearbox from the mk2 golf gti into it as a bit of a project, but i'm not too sure where to start?

Would the 8v or 16v be better?

Can I get other parts from the doner golf such as brakes, driveshafts?
Do I need these parts?

I plan to keep the car subtle but fast, and low!

Any help you guys can give would be brilliant to help me plan this cos at the moment i'm stuck on tour in Iraq!

Thanks

Andy (newbie)

hi mate. golf lump is a bit of a pain... but like steve sed.... GT lump or G40... depends on ur funds really!

i still have the 1.0.... but i supercharged mine... hehehe!

check out http://www.httuning.co.uk

this is mine and my mates site... may be of use to you. ;)

also.. any help, or advice... dont be afraid to ask! ;)

MK1 Golf GTi breaks are the boys... VWII are stamped on the calipers.. DIRECT fit, and u can fit 239 VENTED disks! ;)

mk3 gt inj engine or a g40

thanks for the info guys

What kinda BHP are the mk3 gt inj, or g40 engines?

What kinda price could I expect to pay?

Could I swap over other parts like brakes?

I'm trying to keep the project as cheap but fast as possible. Ideally I'd like to be able to get a donor car from a scrappy and transferre all the bits i'd need.

Also can anyone tell me what the weight of the standard 1.0 mk2 polo is?

Thanks again for your help guys.
