Hi,
i have a 1.2 (55) and whilst i love it, i wish i could get a little more power out of it (especially at 65+) does anyone know of custom remapping for 1.2 (and whether or not they would actually add any more power) or is there something else preferably not too expensive (i loved the idea of having a TT engine, but i doubt my insurance company would) that might give me a little more whack?

The other thing is i am running on stock 14inch wheels with a fair amount of treat but i notice a good bit of road noise (again especially at 65+) am i hoping for too much from a 7 grand car, or is there a way to reuduce the noise (maybe bigger wheels/thicker tyers??, or wheel arch insulation?)

Or would adding a bodykit/lowering help (aerodynamics maybe?)

hi matt,

firstly on the road noise, there are different tyre makes that supposedly reduce road noise. if not then usually, thinner tyres are better but again, it depends on manufacturer.

engine wise theres little you can do. the sensible answer would be to sell up and buy a 1.4/1.6. if yu decide to do a engine transplant then theres 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 options or the 1.8T? look around 2000pounds fitting minimum

Dunno if this is any good, but it does 1.2 re-maps, which should increase power and torque.

A phase 1 generic remap is probly the best or even the custom remap which is shown on this Midland VW site.

Hi i have the same car i can under stand ur problem with power i had the same problem. There is not alot u can do with a 1.2 3 cylinder engine. I assume u have the 55 bhp model same as me. I have put an induction kit on mine and it made on the rollers 61bhp so i have am makng a exhaust hopfully that will free it some more. as for re-map there is nothing. I have put some 17" wheels on and wider rubber it also been lowerd by 35mm it drives like a dream.

what induction kit gains 6hp?

Its actually a RAM Air induction kit for a 1600 Saxo VTR

yeah, way to get my hopes up there! heres me thinking that my K&N might have chucked me up over 60bhp!

I would like more power, but am worried that wont all of those affect insurance? do 17 or 16 inch wheels detract from performance? also does lowering and putting on bigger wheels reduce raod noise (asuming i put o something like yokohama avs db, rather than lo-profiles)
