Went to look at Sallys G40 tonight, and will be buying it.
So i cant wait, and had my first "G smiles" tonight, and they were excellent!
but...on the way home, i could hear whining coming from my GTi gearbox, and the clutch feeling rough
Bye bye to the GTi it would seem, how can a reconditioned box last 3000 miles!?

Yeah it has 7 months left on the guarantee....it got home okay, and i'm sure it would last a fair bit but i dont want the stresss and hassle of paying someone to take the gearbox out....for Ace gearboxes to come and collect it. It will probably be easier on myself to sell it with the 7 months left guarantee and just move on but i'm still in 2 minds because i love the GTi.
So in answer to your question Tom.....I'm not sure yet!
Gordon 40 will be happy with me anyways, and i suppose its just lucky that i will be driving that soon enough!

I'm sure you'll love Gordon Chris. My other car is called gordon lol.
Can you afford to keep and run both then? Personally sell the gti and fund some choice subtle mods and save the rest.

You'll love the G
It's a shame about the GTI's gearbox problems, though

Might be easier to get the box sorted before you sell it - might put some people off even though it has warranty.

Yeah thats true dino, thats what ive been thinking.
And marc, yeah i can just afford both as my wages will be going up a fair bit soon enough. The plan was to bring the GTi into my work as a company car (insurance/petrol paid for etc) which would have been okay for me to run both...
But would seem best to sell the GTi...buy a good cheap run about for work and save some to have a tinker with Gordon40
I promised Sally i'd carry on the name, and picking it up tommorow afternoon! can't wait!

Good to see Gordon is going to a good home

such an immaculate car deserves an owner who will look after him! So, first mod... brakes?
Well done both
