was there ever a mk2 diesel ?

did vw ever make a diesle mk2 for the euro market? saw one on ebay but not sure it was a typo?

Yeah I they did make a diesel.

The original G40 was a diesel, I think they also did a slightly larger engined version too.

THe diesel driveshafts are a good upgrade on the standard driveshafts for higher powered G40's.

Yes. 1.3 with very low power (less than a 1.05) if I remember rightly. Same engine was used in a SEAT van.

No. The supercharged diesel thing was a none-production attempt at the Polo Drei-liter (3-litre) concept that VW have been chasing since the early 80's. The premise is to build a car that can do 100km (62 miles) on 3 litres (0.66gal) of fuel (approx 94mpg).

The Mk2 G40 was similar in principle to the Mk3. 1272cc petrol with a G40 charger. Tom Garrett had one on Club Polo.
