35-45mpg depending on your driving style.

hmmmm 4.55 litres in a gallon...
40/4.55 = 8.8 miles
8.8miles per litre....litre costs about 85p here...
So.. its near enough 10p a mile in petrol....
If my maths serves me correctly...hmmm

haha oh dear!
the problem with mine being that i think it was telling the truth!
is it true that you use up tp 60% more petrol going 80ish than you do going 70mph?
i think that may have been my problem? I have also since heard that old VWs are renound for fuel guzzling....?

My gt does 410 miles on £33 (full tank). Although this is probably no comparison to a 1litre. 10p a mile nowadays is quite hard to acheive, so i was well impressed by the gt. My gti does 28mpg!

blimey, im lucky to get 275 miles out of my 1043cc mk3 on £30!! thats if im driving enthusiastically between leicester and birmingham, but on country lanes.
410 miles on 33 quid seems a bit steep. thats like 47.5mpg, in a gt? you must have been going very steady.
and you can get 45 quids worth of petrol in a mk3 tank if your empty, very empty

I get between 250 - 300 miles to a tank (between £27-£33 depending where i fill up) in my gt, been chipped and de-catted.
Got a injection fault though.

After finally getting my GT running properly, and on the last fuel fill up, I got 41mpg - which is exactly 10p to the mile. Mind you, that was with V-Power, so with normal fuel it'd be even cheaper!

yeh, i still think nearly 48 mpg in a gt is a bit too good to be true

it'll do 45 to the gallon EASY, but watch out for the head gasket, mines just blown! they tend to go at 80k on the mk3!
