Hey guys, a couple of weeks ago, i folded my rear seats down to fit some stuff in the boot.

what am i saying.... i removed the bottom part of the seats, then folded the rest down and told my friends that i removed the seats completely in a vein attempt at weight reduction.

anyyyywayyy, basically, i put the seats back in for practicality, and now the light between the Rev and Speedo that shows the seats and an arrow displaying they're down! is flickering on and off with no obvious pattern.

it seems at random, anyone had the problem, or know what to do?

Click the rear seats in properly, i've never had this light before. Must be the latch on the seats.

yeah i tried tht, is it possible tht ive buggered the sensor?

The question I'm about to ask may appear to be stupid but it's really not.

Have you tried reseating the back rests of the rear seats? Eg. unclip them again, fold them down then slam them (bit of force but lets not be overly stupid about it) in to position and then tug on them to make sure they are in place properly.

At the moment I can't quite remember where the sensor switch is for these so if I remember I'll have a look tomorrow. Unless of course you do know where this is... have you check that that's ok and in position correctly, hasn't come loose or anything?

(For reference I don't think this sensor comes with every polo... I'm 99% that my 2002 1.2 S polo didn't have this sensor or dash light however my 2004 GT does.)

yeah, i've tried tht, it was the first thing i did, and it appears to have reduced the amount it did come on.

but its not like it comes on when thers excessive movement, like bumps or something, so i was guessing it wasnt through a physical thing.

hoping the sensor isnt cocked up

it might be the ones with the split fold rear seats

I didn't know there was a sensor - unless my MY02 polo is one of the one's which doesn't have one!

dahh, just had another go at slamming it

nothing worked, gonna cost a lot for VW to look at it?

More than likely, it's probably easy money for them this.

However if you dunno how to fix it they're the people who'll probably know.... or not in my case some times

haha yeah, i'll give it a try, a friend of mine knows a mechanic at my local VW, so i'll get hold of him
