my polo's ill

past few days it's been hard to get reverse.
this morning at 7.45 it decided to totally block reverse.
so i had to push the blooming thing out the drive
whilst i was at work a mechanic looked at it and i need a new clutch and gear box.
so i have no car for tonight.
get it back for tomor though.
not a happy bunny

wow thats harsh, you sure it needs a new clutch and gearbox? I would get a second opinion mate cause my car wouldnt go into reverse and it turned out to be gear linkage!Btw how much is that setting you back?Cheers

ouch i had this problem it cost me 500 with VAT for a recon box and they said to me that i need a new clutch but i had 1 fitted about 4 weeks b4 so they said it wud b ok n i fink wen u get a new box u need to get a clutch to cus ur talkin but 220 for the clutch aswel so uve got a big bill cummin up

not for a new clutch and gearbox it ain't, not unless you've got a very (very) good friend in the industry.....

dodgy dodgy... New clutch and gearbox for 150? Parts alone would exceed that amount...
Double check exactly what it is they are doing...

usually you'd stick a clutch in while your doin the gearbox as it's easier and won't cost much extra

well it wasn't the gearbox after all, like someone said ^^^^
it was the gear selector cables, so cost nothing to fix.
saved me 150 squid that
