no power engine cuts outs/epc light

hey all i got a 2001 gti polo from time to time when driving the engine cuts out and when started theres no power and the epc light and engine lights come on, the problem goes and come,any one got any idea what it could be?????????

I had the same problem when I had my Lupo Gti. It turned out that there was a loose wire in one of the wiring looms by the bulkhead that kept making the engine cut out and make the epc light come on. VW had it for about a week before they figured out what the problem was - it was all done under warranty in the end.
