Hello,
The oil needs changing on my 2002 1.4TDI PD and I fancied doing it myself but can someone tell me firstly where the drain plug is or how I get to it... is it under the plastic guard under the engine?
Thanks in advance,
Ian

I dont know about the 1.4 tdi engines, but most of the time its at the 'bottomest' part of the engine.
One of my cars it was under the plastic yes, but it had a cutout hole for you to get your 'tool' through.
Try taking the plastic off and then you should see it?
Make sure the oil filter is the right one before you start

Done mine last weekend.
Found it easier to jack the car up and put on axle stands.
Undo plastic undertray approx. 8 screws.
Slide tray towards rear of car and it will drop down.
You will see the sump a large silver block at bottom of engine.
look at back of sump at rear and you will see sump plug.
Using 19mm socket undo bolt and oil will pour out (Fairly quick to start).
Dont forget to use container underneath and move as flow slows down.

Also take out Dipstick before undoing plug to allow air in as the oil flows out.
If you are changing the filter as well this is accessed from under the bonnet,
there is a large black plastic cap with 30mm AF hexagon in front of the engine. Undo this with large shifta spanner and gentle pull out filter.
The filter is an element not the cannister type, replace then screw back in.

Shouldn't you always replace the filter when doing an oil change???
Also, make sure the car is as level as you can get.

and another tip is to have the car engine warm, otherwise the oil is thick and won't all come out. don't burn yourself though!
