I'm looking in to getting my car lowered, i'm currently on 17inch wolfraces with falken zr something or other tyres which have the sloping tyre walls. After R1CH said that you could lower on 17's without too many probs i thought i might give it a go. My only question is what am i getting myself in to?

How much does it rub? does it rub only on full lock? does it rub round fast corners? whats it like with passengers? really bumpy roads? speed humps?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

My advice would be to go no lower than 50 or 60 i had mine dropped 60 on 16's and i wrecked my front wing when it was wet and i hit a drain at a roundabout, my man had his dropped 100 on 17's he got arch work done and it was ok, only really scrubbed like feck when you hit bumps or full turns, dont go too low if you dont wanna pay the price thats all i can say x

What arch work did he have done? got them rolled?

i'm thinking of going only 40mm down, so shouldn't have too many problems hopefully. i was told by professionals that theyd really rub but people on here have said dropping 50mm is ok. i guess time will tell!

mine was 50mm on 17s..I had to remove the mudflaps all round and give the front inners a ''slight'' knock in with a big hammer and that was it...It did rub a little if you had a car full or drove it hard but nothing to lose sleep over.

mine didnt rub at all when driving unless as above yopu were hammering the s**t out of the thing......
put it this way i have the same tyres on the seventeens and it would rub a tiny bit on full lock... but not even enough to damage the tyre...
fast corners were fine..
but yeah mudflaps were off and the wheels went on thats the only arch work.. 17s may scrub on some polos and not others as all cars tend to be different.slightly different ...chassis wise

The guy at the shop said something about that. I dont suppose the 16v would be that much different chassis wise would it? i know it has to cope with a bit more power but only 25bhp more than the 8v 1.4......

I think im gonna pretty much gonna get rubbing, i just dnt want it to rub like a b***h and damage my tyres!!

id personally buy a 60mm kit,,,fit it and go from there..May sound a bit drastic but its the only way youll know what needs sorting on it,,and it wont be anything major i can assure you.
