On the 15/12/03 VW issued a memo to all VW dealers stating that they are currently 'aware' of the complaints of suspension creaks from new Polo owners and that VAG Germany are working on a replacement kit as we speak. These 'kits' are expected to be ready for late January/early Febuary 2004 and are of course covered under VW warranty.

It is not yet known if these bushes are going to be issued as a recall, workshop campaign (fitted as cars come in for service/repair etc) or replaced when the noise is noted by owners.
Dealers have been instructed NOT to carry out any warranty work on suspension if the complaint is either creaking or knocking noises. Therefore if you book your car in for the creaks don't expect anything to be done about it until the kits are availiable.

Thanks for the update Niel, having said that i just got my car back from the garage and creaky suspension was one of the problems it had when it went in. It seems to be fixed now though so i'm very happy
Now thanks to your update on new suspension kits being made available I wont be getting the new suspension kit because mine is already fixed! awwww.

ah well. I'm happy no more creaking(for now) fingers crossed lets runs these ones in first

My Ibiza was a victim of this, and I just thought I had a bad car!

My new one doesn't do it, I assume it'll be a matter of time!

HooHa! Finally! I have been complaining about this for god knows how long Finally they are doing something about it

Is there anywhere i can get a official confirmation conserning the replacement kits for the suspension? Where did moderator get the the information?

Try ringing VW customer services in your country. They'll probably act like they know nothing though

VW in the UK issue technical bulletons/updates through VW desktop, a website that only dealers can access. I work for a VW/Audi dealership so was able to have access to this information pretty easily

Well mines been in for over a month now. Looked at your site yesterday and saw the bulletin for the suspension after they have told me that the creaking is normal (My car is having the dashboard done by the way - yes a month so far, only meant to be in for a week). Phoned them up today and they said they havent seen a bulletin for it and just kept questioning me as to where I got it from so I think they are trying to cover something up. If I dont get my car back by Friday they can keep it

I spoke to VW Customer care a few weeks ago (very helpful by the way) who made an enquiry to VW technical. There hasn't been much progress so far but they are WORKING on a technical bulletin. I've just realised I've said on my first post that there is one. But what I meant to say is they've actually sent a message to all dealers just stating there will be a technical bulletin/fix soon. My mistake Now edited.

I'm going to get in contact with VW Customer care again tomorrow ref: my warped discs. I will ask about this at the same time, hopefully we will see something soon

Ok, thats great but at the moment I am in talks with VW uk and the MD of my dealer over this as this is now the 5th time its been in and I only had it March last year. To be honest I am sick of it but ive tried rejecting it but they wont have none of it. Sorry about the large pics in sig by the way. Will be sorted in a bit.

Ref the dash rattle: From discussions with VW dealers/Skoda forums etc its RUMOURED to be one of these three air vents in the dash...

Apparently not enough padding or something. Either way i'm leaving mine, not going to let the dealer wreck my dash for the sake of a rattle

If you really want to reject the car then you can go to trading standards who will back you up..

At least they said they would in my case

saying that.. .I should've pointed out at the meet where they've stuffed what looks like plastic bags behind the dash to stop is squeeking

Cheers, they said something about waiting for a part for the vent. I phoned RAC legal services and they said that really you've had the car too long to reject it now and really the faults are small things. thanks for the comments on the car, much apreciated. Ill try and get VW to lower it as compensation and put some upgrade speakers in and a roof spoiler and ...... If there is one scratch on the dash when I get it back they can keep it as far as im concerned!

If your thinking about lowering. In Germany VW do an approved (in Germany only though) lowering Eibach kit for the 9n. Only 25-30 mil but it changes the look of the car without making the ride too harsh. You keep your original shocks too so it shouldn't work out too expensive either.

I have some upgraded VW speakers for mine waiting to be fitted, I didn't have them as standard so I have to get someone to make a loom for the rear speakers
