Well, last week was a little bored so had a quick look on Ebay and thought i'd have a search for some "VW 16" alloys" and this is what i came across!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1
Thats right, a set of 16" BBS RXII's with tyres, and i won them for £142.
Just when i think you can't pick up any deals on Ebay anymore and i get this bargain!

I picked them up yesterday and the only problem is it seems the previous owner drove over a bed of small sharp nails with them! All the tyres have hundreds of them in. Gonna have to get them checked out. The tyres are 205/
45/16 anyway, so was thinking of getting rid whatever!
So watch this space! Refurbishment begins on Wednesday with removal of tyres!

Good find that.
If they mentioned BBS in the title I expect they would of gone for £500+
Have fun with the restore. I have a set of 15's to restore, just haven't got round to it yet.

I do have a copy of the PDF sat here next to me, but it is literally a printout of it! I'd be able to email you the PDF file by Friday though if no one else is able to help you out.
As for those BBS Matt, that's an absolute bargain! You could make a rather nice profit selling those on if you were so inclined

I have the PDF in electronic format, if anyone needs a copy just PM me. I'll work on getting it hosted and put a link up.

Cheers for the positive replies.
Tomorrow they're off to the local tyre shop for them to check the condition of the tyres. Have got low expectations of them being any good due to the nails in them but we'll see! As i said in my first post, they're
45 profile anyway! Plus the brand of tyre i've never heard of!
Turanza!!!! Think some Nankangs maybe my choice of rubber!
I'll take some before and after pics once they're split if you lot are interested. You can let me know if my refurb skills are any good then aswell!
I'm glad the warmer weather is upon us soon anyway! There's gonna be some fair few hours spent sanding over the next few weeks. I'd best start thinking of what colour i want the centres too! I have had a couple of ideas but would like to be slightly different. And one idea i've had is different but not sure if its do-able!
Cheers

Hmm colours for BBS.....do tell!
And if you are splitting the rims yourself take care. I wrecked 2 of my bolts last weekend. I've ordered up an impact driver for the other wheels. Apparently the trick is to shock the bolts with the impact driver before you loosen them. Wish I'd done that

thought i'd better warn you the 45 profile tyres will rub like a b*tch and are a nightmare?!

my rxII 16s came with 45s (funnily enough they were Turanza too!), the fronts were ok until full lock and the backs ground out my arches?! much better off with some 195/45s, makes a bigger difference than you'd expect... steering lighter, quicker acceleration, no rubbing and looks better! i'd recommend going to etyres.co.uk for them, they come and fit it on your doorstep with balancing and tyre disposal all included in the price.. nice guys too!
yea definitely keep us posted with the progress of your split rims, might help me out as i'm just about to attempt doing my own next week or so... just the rims tho, not doing the centres just yet as i'm undecided on what colour?! am i right in assuming you're sanding the centres yourself?!

thats gonna take forever mate!!
oh yea, in the bbs refurb post above, a torx bit question was raised, when i went looking it, everywhere i went to no one knew what i meant by VM8 12 point torx bit, even ECP?! by chance went in to japarts and they had a set of 12 point torx bits for £7.99 which the guy was kind enough to let me try before i buy, they fit very nicely! on the box it says its a M8 torx bit so i'd suggest going there if u wanna save a tenner or so...
