what a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all just started refurbing my wheels and what a bicth they are being
1st i struggled to get five bolts out which ended in me and my mate drilling them out till 10mins ago(10.30pm) :x 2nd the bloodly things will not split :x. Thats why spit and polish told me i had to split them myself coz they know what i now do! Just priced up all new bolts for them and it comes to £76.80 for 64 bolts.

I have my BBS splitties sitting in the garage waiting for refurb, I really want to find a place that will do the splitting for me, I've heard so many stories or people having to drill out bolts!

Where are you getting the new bolts from? Surely you won't have to replace all the bolts?! If you've drilled out the problem bolts and removed the rest, why wont they split? Perhaps they have been refurbed in the past and they've been glued into place?

just matz supply the bolts but im considering my local engineering company to make me some bolts the same probley for half the price. i have no idea why they wont split my mate is taking them to work 2morro and put em on a press. EDIT yeah they have been refurbed in the past but not by myself the person who has done them should be shot!!!

I actually spoke to Dave from Just Matz today, he didn't seem too sure about the RXII bolts being titanium or not, he thought they were chromed. I'm waiting on him phoning me back....

How have you tried to split them? Usually they take some doing with a mallet and a block of wood, especially if the corrosion is bad on them.

As for the bolts not coming out, if they've been refurbed before they may be loctited in or something similar.

dave is cool im pretty sure they are titanium as the colour of them is a grey/blue colour`which titanium is the bolts you need are no.43 on this link but i think these are a chomed stainless steel tho. :?

Genuine BBS ones are titanium.

The replacement ones from Just Matz I don't think they're titanium.

ive tried the mallet and wood and heating the wheel inside but nothing. as said before they have defo been refurbed in the past but they have not been split as the paint was on the bolts and which indicates a cowboy job.

i saw the bolts on ebay but they may have been rounded off in the process of removing them.

Hmm sounds like it could be paint that's holding the centre to the rim then. Paint stripper might work, but it's a question of getting it between the two surfaces.

Just thinking about the bolts I ripped the teeth off, there was a tiny bit play between the head of the tork and the bolt. I measured my 8mm tork head, and it only measures 7mm across (exactly).

Can anyone do me a favour and measure theirs to see if this is a standard thing or have I got some dodgy torks?

my spline torx has alittle play but not alot really, they should make a size 9 it would fit more sung.

I'm sure you've probably tried this already but spray some wd40 all the way around the seam leave it for a while.
I put mine on a door mat proped up slightly on the tire and used some thick dowling almost like a chisel and smaked it with a lump hammer working my way around the wheel.
I had no problem removing my bolts just left the wd40 on them for a while then used the impact driver to loosen them then initial turning with a foot long wrench then finished taking them out with a crappy handheld electric driver.
