My Poor Polo :(

Evening all....

All i can say is, my poor polo!

Its had a bit of a beating this week :(

Started off with a well known company doing a cowboy job of fitting a removable tow bar to my car.

I didn't want one that sticks out etc etc.

When i went to pick the car up, i paid, then the guy took me outside to my car, to my horror i found that the bottom half of the bumper was missing!!
The F*#&%£s cant get it fit back on, and think they need some template!!

I was annoyed as i paid them before i found out!!

Then i get home to find to further inspection that they have scuffed my bumper in a few places, the lights over hang the bumper and the wheel arch curve doesn't match up!!!

Soo i get on the phone to them the following day, they have to speak to higher people about the scuffs etc etc, but they will fix my bumper the following Thursday if they have time, if not it will be the Monday after GTI fest.

Sooo am not too happy about that as my car looks like it has been rear ended!

I will try and upload some pics.

Next....................

As you sometimes do, people fall out with people that live in houses around them..... over trivial car parking!!

We only have a road at the back of our house, and the width of the garden / driveway is enough room to park one car across our gates outside..
So over the road, because of the way the houses are laid out, there is a large section where people can park, but it is along the side of someones house...
Now i have been parking there nearly every evening for a few hours ever since i got a car. It is only usually until my dad moves his car to go to work.
Now the guy whose house the road runs along side is not happy about this, especially this son and his mate....

My point has always been that the bit of road is for anyone, i pay my tax, my car has an MOT, so it isn't really his business.. I don't block his drive, don't stop any access etc etc... the only problem he has is that its next to his house!! and that i have my own drive on my garden so i should use it (even tho my dads car is usually on it)
It started with trivial things like his mother would block me in and not move until it was convenient for her..

So anyway, today i was stood at my bedroom window upstairs, i had a clear view of my car, and i seen this guys son and his mate walking over to my car and throwing burning cigarette ends on the roof of my polo!!

So i go outside, by which time they have gone, there must have been 10 of them of the roof, some have made marks.

I then walk round to the drivers side on the car to find to my horror that the whole side is covered in what can only be described as plaster mix. and yes most of it was wet and drying!!!!
I then find there are lumps of stone on the bonnet, which have made scratches etc etc.

I quickly drove to the jet wash anyway to get this stuff off the drivers side before it set.

Thing is now with this, where do i stand?
Should i report it to the police? but i cant prove it was him....

Ideas guys?

Thanks

Chris

I guess you need to determine where you park (outside the bloke's house) whether is it's reserved for the residents that live in those houses, if so then you may not have much of a leg to stand on as I guess you shouldn't really be parking there without permission.

Eitherway, they shouldn't be vandalising your motor as this is a criminal offence, do you have a video camera? If so set it up and just film what the vandal does, over a few nights and then kindly ask them to stop, tell them you know it's them. Then if they do it again, again let them know you know, ask them to stop and this time let them know that you have recorded them doing it. If this doesn't work, again tell them, ask them and let them know if they carry on doing it, you will contact the police. If they then proceed to carry on, contact the police and give them the tapes and inform them of the three/four times you have asked them to stop, make a note of the dates, this will show that you have take steps to control the situation and that they still continue. Just trying to help, this is what I would do. Hopefully the vandalising bar-steward will find other mindless activities to occupy his pea sized brain.

So long as it isn't legally their land and it is as you say basically common ground which anyone can park on, and your not blocking any access to the property then I dont think theres anything legal they can do about it. It seems that perhaps they already relise this and that is why they have resorted to vandalism in an attempt to stop you parking. Id get in touch with the police and just tell them what has happened why/who you think has done it. At least if they got a complaint it will be on record and perhaps if anything happens again then it may be excepted as them who caused the damage the first few times.

Setup a webcam set on where you park your car as you said you can see it clearly from a window. Get a web cam (wireless if it isn't a great place to have your computer next to it and record it for a while :)
