Ooh i like the shinyness

As for the mirror, mine was the same. I got a black Mk4 one, and in the end all it needed was just a sharp anticlockwise twist. As long as you dont push out or pull in so your straining the windscreen, it should be fine

I would assume alun that it would come off the bit at the window to rid the complete beige look.
Max has also done this so, he'd help you out.

It comes off on arrow number 1. A quarter anticlockwise turn will remove it from the windscreen

Yes you twist the horn thing and the whole mirror comes off, although i cracked my windscreen when i did mine! Guy who repaired it just laughed at me when he asked how it happened

I can get one off mine - its just a standard mk4 mirror
