Need a key!!

My GTI engine conversion is basically done... evrythings good apart from one problem.... No key for the new gti engine!!
Emailed the guy i bought it off on ebay but if he doesnt have a key (he probably wont) will need to get a new key made by VW and coded to the car.
This is probably going to cost me more money i cant afford.
Does anyone know a way i can get a key made up cheaper and then get the key coded to the new engine??
