I really want to add footwell lights like the new mini to my polo but dont know how to. Any ideas you guys?
Thought about connecting LEDs to the puddle lights on the doors so they come on the same time and then sticking them under the tray thing thats runs under the glovebox/steering wheel. Do know much about electrics though!
Any help appreciated.

Should be pretty easy to do.
Find the wire that goes into the door for the "puddle" lights. I reckon you could pull the light out, find the colours and then *try* and find them inside the car, where the wires from the doors come thru. Failing that, try and run some new wires into the door.
Run a wire from them, to the new LEDs (I assume you mean the "bulbs" that are made up of loads of LEDs, as opposed to normal single LEDs.)
Fix them under the tray thing.
Sorted I'd say.

Some of the larger Halfords branches do some blue lights for the insides of cars, handy if you want to do it on the cheap.
Personally I'd opt for pukka VW puddle lights remove the red filter and mount them either side of the transmission tunnel or corners of the front footwells.

Hi all
Right, I've had blue hyper bright led footwell lights for quite a while now and I love them.
I have just one hyper bright blue led in each footwell, connected to the back of the heated rear window switch. They are on whenever the headlights are on, but I have a separate switch for them just in case (although I have them on all the time!)
The blue from the leds matches the blue illumination really well.
BTW, I've replaced the courtesy light bulb with 3 of the same leds, 1 points to the centre console and the other 2 point to the doors... Nice blue glow inside the car and when you open the doors, you get a nice "puddle" of blue light on the ground!

Hmm,
You guys all appear to have Puddle lights in the doors...
I have the reflectors, but there isn't any lights behind them.... Strange..

VW cost cutting again. If the puddle lights are in the brochure for the year of manufacture then they should be on your car.
I'd kick up a fuss but you've probably have enough already

If you've got 1.9 Tdi sport (3 door) then you SHOULD have puddle lights that work. Looks like a trip to VW!!
Just remembered the other day, VW Sharons have puddle lights fited to them as standard, so might investigate how they fit etc. and put some of them in to keep things semi-standard with VW parts etc...
Will investigate...

I've got lots of things I shouldn't because it's an early car I think.
Maybe why you haven't got them?

Maybe i do. Perhaps VW forgot to put the bulbs in, though i doubt it.
The Beetle had them, kind of half red - half white. I'll have a look into it...

Probably did
Yeh, just like this:
They just pull out, so pull one out and see if its wired up/got bulb.
