Have you ever taken the door card off?
It's a 2 minute job mate, really easy. I've done it about 4 or 5 times now

remove the small screw on the inside of the door, near the wing mirror
pop off the grab handle
remove the two gold screws, at top and bottom of grab handle
untwist and remove the lock knob at top of door
carefully prise, starting at the bottom, with something that wont damage the paint/door card - will start unclipping from the door metal itself
several clips all the way around, most likely stiff, so do tug hard but be carefull not to break them (cheap to replace anyway)

you have to take the door card off inorder to unclip the electric mirror cable & screw on from the inside, easy job though took me 5 mins

Yep done this the other day, you have to take the door card off and there's a few screws behind where the tweaters are.

Just to let you know Alun, the mirror is a piece of cake to change.
Basically once the door card is off all you have to do is unplug the mirror, undo the 3 screws holding it in place, take the clip off of the plug (you'll know what I mean when you see it) then feed it through the sponge in the door (again you'll know what I mean when you see it)
One thing I'm not sure of though is how the hell the glass stays in it's place, if someone could help me with that I'd be very happy

I had to give it back to the painter because he hadn't quite sprayed enough of the inside, so you could still see it with the glass in place.
I've never personally had any trouble with that screw though
