DashBoard Lighting

Hey Guys,

My blue DashBoard lighting is playing up at the moment.

When I switch the lights on, wether dipped beam or just side lights,

Either the Blue Lighting a) Doesn't light up at all, b) Lights up, but flickers and dims a lot, OR c) Comes on, but cuts out whilst driving, which isnt great, as I then can't see my speed!

The Rev Meter works, and so does the speedo, but when its dark, i cant see it at all, and all the warning lights, like Handbrake etc...still work.

Anyone got any suggestions? :?

The only thing that I've done lately, is put an 8 LED Festoon in the interior light....

Also, I have all the wires to an Amp and Sub connected up etc... but they dont connect to any amp or sub, they're just lying there, in my boot, with nothing on the end of them...

could it be this? or the LED?

thanks
ell

you can adjust the brightness of the dash - I wonder if this unit is broken?

it seems to be at random though?

its never totally off, or totally on if you get me?

its not as if the thing is set on dim?

out of interest though, how do you set the brightness?

thanks

There should be a dail next to the headlight adjusters, on the right hand side of the wheel, unless the 1.2's dont have it?

no, i dont think they do? :?

damn entry level...

k, not so worried about that now, as much as i am by the fact that today, after trying to remove my sidelights, unseccessfully, my driver side sidelight no longer works!!! haha :x

and then, after trying to remove my H7's, my drivers side H7 is loose!!!???

i'm such a malko!!!

do H7s just yank out? or is there a technique, im worried i may have broke the levelling device for my headlights?

one careful owner lol

seems like you broke the sidelight then, damn!

H7's do not yank out - they have a retaining clip you need to remove first.....

yeh man, im a careful one!!!

so how is this "retaining clip" held in? i think i saw a screw in there somewhere...this was whilst i was suspending myself upside down in my engine bay, with my head being burnt!

ok guys, got the H7s changed! looking nice,

and i got the Sidelights out aswell, but, neither of the new bulbs i put in, actually work!? :?

the OEM sidelight bulbs worked, so its not the wiring, and they are the right bulbs?

any ideas?

also, im not liking the orange reflection im getting from the indicators in the headlights, and i heard somewhere, that you can buy these bulbs, which still flash orange? but they look blue?

how do you change the indicators in the headlights?

thanks

broken bulbs? you might be able to test them with a 6v battery and some makeshift wire!

ok guys,

i changed the sidelight bulbs for another set...

...good job i accidentally bought 10!!! haha

so now i got the LED sidelights and Xenon H7s,

now looking for the blue/orange indicators?

and the Dashlighting problem still stands?

thanks

ell, you do know that LED bulbs only work one way round? unlike conventional bulbs, it matters which way the current flows round the circuit. Also if you could post a pic or link to which bulbs you put in the sidelights, i'm interested as I put some in mine, looked a little blue though.
