If you look on ebay, there should be loads its, called vag-com.

Thats the best one as its the original software with a usb plug in. Some of the cheaper ones might be a bit dodgy..

Good luck!

thank you for s speedy reply, if my car is under warrenty for the next 2 years would there be any point in my getting one? What does everyone else use them for mainly.

Also where does it plug into on the VW Polo gti, any one got any pics of the socket?

On all Polos it should be in the foot area of the drivers seat. If you look in the top right corner of the foot area, near the light switch, it should be there.

Its usually for checking the car if it has anything wrong, or for turning off annoying dash lights (lets say you changed the steering wheel, the airbag light will come on, you can use vagcom to turn the light off). You can also use it to turn off and on features, lets say you didnt have cruise control, but then you installed the right servos and stalk, you can activate it through vagcom. You can't however use it to tune the cars ECU, i'm not sure what you need there, but some sort of ECU flashing device.

I personally havn't bought one yet, I was thinking about it but didn't bother as its still under warranty and I can always get VW to do anything properly. I only know this much about it as I've watched VW do it to my car!

cheers

I've got an OBD cable to with VAGCOM.

It's handy to read if your car has fault codes or not.

Also, I can switch between 2 programs (chipped and original).

You mean, switch between the 2 different programs ?

Well, first of all, you must be sure that you have 2 programs. (If the tuner has overwritten your original one with the chipped one, the original one is erased and you only got the chipped one..)

Then it's only a matter of seeing what code is your original, and what code is your chipped.

With me, my original had the code 0002 (this should be the same with you I think), and my chipped has 0005 if I remember correctly (anyways, it ends with 2 and the other with 5 with a few 0's in front of it ;))

I have to go to the tab "Engine coding" or "coding" (I should look on my laptop how it's exactly called) , in VAGCOM, open it, change the code. Turn off car with key, turn it on again, and the program you want is activated.
