no your right! 40mm should be fine on standard shocks! its been known for people to lower up to 50 on standard shocks!

you sure 40's low enough though?

finally! people start to realise that you can lower on standard shocks.... I was expecting the "YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR SHOCKS" answers from people who have done that themselves.

you'll have a less than optimal ride but it's fine, get it slammed :)

40mm isn't slammed, and they will be ok, for a while.

They will start to leak eventually though. You can get kits (inc shocks) really cheap from PhillJ so you might as well do it properly ;)

40mm? i got 30mm and i hate it. the back is livable i suppose but the front is way to high. i reckon about 50 at the front and 30 at the back is fine for now. ig to 15" alloys to.

which model mk5 have you got? Eibach do a sportline kit for some models which gives a 45-50mm drop. Should give you a nice ride...

it depends on the make of springs i had a set of PI's and they were crap!
