Even More Debt

Well as some of you know my car was in for repair after it's accident a week today. Initially it was gonna cost £562 including labour for a new front panel, radiator and end plate, including the labour/towing cost & gearbox oil. Phoned up today and the garage said the air con system is damaged and will need a new fan and some other kind of fan, along with some of the piping repaired and a regas. What is worse is that it will take 2 weeks for the fan to arrive. So I can have the car, but I can't use any sort of ventilation. Total cost for the mechanical damage is now gonna be £892.

New bumpers and stuff is £180 and I'm guessing around £300 for the bumpers to be sprayed/smoothed. So I'm looking at a grand total of at least £1372 to get the car repaired, all because of some arsehole and an ill-maintained van. My service of the car cost £1250 just 2 months ago. I'm totally powerless and the car is crippling me of money :(

can't you claim off the insurance?

surely that's what it's for.

It's not worth it as I have a £350 voluntary excess, plus I'll loose 2 years no claims which will at least double my insurance quote

It's a total pain in the ass. This is meant to be my summer hols and I should be enjoying myself. I got a summer placement in a couple of weeks meaning I'll be working 7 days a week pretty much for 8 weeks. I gotta arrange all these bodyshops and other s**t. Said to my parents it would of been better having had £1500 stolen from me - at least I wouldn't have the hassle of having to get the car fixed!

I was reading the first post, you said it was the fault of the van's?
If so, if shouldnt affect your no claims as it wasnt your fault... no??? :?

If he claims on his own insurance then yes its will effect his 'no claims' regardless of fault. Unfortunately Mouse would need the details of the other driver to claim off them.

@Mouse, it might be worth checking, but was there any CCTV camera's around the area it happened? I'm sure there is a law that if anyone has you on CCTV in a public place then they have to supply you with a copy of the footage at your request. Thats why you always see signs in shops with contact details of the CCTV operators. They might charge you a fortune for it and take ages but its worth a try.

I'll check to see if there are cameras on that stretch of the A90 out of Aberdeen
