Hey guys,

Ideally, this should be under the ICE section, but this is more specific to the 9N,

where are you guys' earthpoints? on my old sub, i used a bracket behind the carpet, near the housing for the rear lights, but now i've got a new sub, this doesn't seem to work.

i looked at it, whilst it was connected, and it was sparking a little bit, i think,

what are your alternatives?...to save me looking.

also, anyone else find getting phonos through the dash a real pain? haha,

Have you sanded it down to bare metal - if its against paint it wont work. I had that prob with mine

haha, need to hunt down some sand paper then...

makes me wonder why it worked last time? however, the sub DID mysteriously stop working last time, maybe it had just given up on the earthpoint being painted?

i blamed the amp, and now that sub, and amp, sit in my garage, doing nothing, and in the meantime, i have bought a new sub and amp off ebay.

such, such, such an idiot. haha

Hmm this point against the bracket. One side of it isn't against rubber is it? I made this mistake before that is all.

I use underneath one of the seatbelt bits bolted to under the rear seats and i also use the point right behind the first aid bracket (the side that hasn't got rubber against it so it's sandwiched by metal) which is by the passenger tail light.

I personally have never had to sand any where in either of my polos as the most there has been is a very light layer of paint if that at all.

Its best to sand regardless - they you get the best possible earth. Can cause all manner of problems otherwise lol

Just saying i've never had to and the only problem was when i sandwiched it (propery numpty stylee) between metal and rubber.

sand down under back seats. put a bolt into the metal and screw down the ring clip from the earth cable. easy as pie

I put mine in the spare wheel well, just drilled a small hole and screwed into it. As others have said, sand down the paint to bare metal and put copperslip on it to make sure it stays good.

SiDaBa, there isn't any rubber on the other side of that panel luckilly, but thanks anyway

however, its still not working, the amp now powers up, but the sub doesn't do anything.

originally, i though - remote wire? - but then surely the amp wouldn't power up?

so it must be the sub itself? but i tried my old sub on the amp, and that didn't work either.

and its not a case of +/- either, as i changed these around about 10 times to check.

any ideas?

You've pretty much answered the problem your self the Amp is at fault then.

Is this a new amp and if so I assume your old amp works?

Sound connections in to the Amp are plugged in ok?

does the old 9v battery trick on the sub wires not work anymore?

well the Amp powers up fine?

thats why i thought it was the sub...?

and whats the 9V test? please excuse my ignorance...

If you put a 9v battery on thw wires them it should crackle if the speaker is fine.

*Dont blame me if it blows up*

Just because the amp light is on it doesnt mean that it is all setup correctly, I learnt that the hard way.

Double check everything, then again, get a multimeter also
