Hello everyone
I am new to this website .. I have been slowly restoring my mk3 polo since i have had it for the past two years .
I have just got to the asthetic completion with many changes on my car
-Respray
-G40 rear lights
-G40 trim
-Bumper Spray
-Xenon Lights
-Black Interior
-Internall Roof Spray
-15"BBS Glf mk2
-Lowering
-Fully Stainless Exhaust system Cat Back Golf Mk2 Backbox
I have also started tryng to gt a bit more of a kick out of these sweet little 1.0l engines .
Engine mods
- Carb from 1.8 Golf .
- Induction Kit
What else can i do to get a bnit more speed out of my little polo ... I have been considering a engine change to the 1.3GT . Can get the engine for £150 with the ECU ... Just the insurance would be a killer as i am 19 and have only 1 yrs no claims ... Only 4 months to go till 2 Yay !
Is there any way of getting a bit more from my polo ..
Im not to botherd about how economical it is i just want a little more grunt...

I have heard that people have added throttle bodys from late spec 1.3L polos or 1.4 SPI Golf's .
Gt camshafts are supposed to help and some headwork .. tats sounding expensive to me ..
I found the 1.8Carb did wonders however .. that was cheap as chips form the scrappy ..
Do you know if people have changed the injection to bigger engined systems ??

did someone call?
talking about the throttle body off the spi golfs etc, do you mean this?
the top part to the injection unit and the pipe going to the induction kit are from spi golfs and ventos. it is exactly the same as whats under my bonnet on my vento. to be honest, i found it to be more than a pain in the arse than anything.
it sounded great and looked pretty cool too, but during the winter, carb freezing happened and the car kept stalling. i ended up during the winter months, pointing the hot air feed from the exhaust heat sheild towards the filter.
to fit the system, you will require the two bits to make it up, the bolts holding it onto the injectior body (you need to remove the studs that are already there) and a couple of elbows and rubber pipe to redirect the crankcase breather.
Hope thats of some help.
all in all though, your not likely to get too much poke out of the 1 litre. i had the induction kit and a cat back exhaust. withouth stripping the engine down, skimming the head and perhaps a bit of porting and polishing, you aren't likely to get much more out of her.
the 1.8 carb unit is something i haven't heard of, make sure you post some pics of your motor so we can have a ganders!

I had the same idea about tuning the little 1.0 ltr but when i couldn't find any peeps willing to do work on it

, i went out and bought a GT lump ,chipped ecu, polished body,k&n filter etc and the 5 speed box for £150

, I heard it running in the car too and it sounded sweet

.
so thats the best bet and leave a 1.0ltr badge on the back and on the log book

Wont somebody notice come MOT time? I'd certainly want the log book correct if I was selling too.

a little tuning wont hurt its just when you start to put things like supercharghes on that the Mot ppl will be looking at it a bit funny ..
However i do know a few ppl who are prepared to let it slide when you go in with a huge carb on ure car and induction kit .. depends how far you want to go ..
Blaitently gotta keep the 1.0 in though ..

I bet when it comes to selling a little tuned polo 1.0ltr (GT LUMP under the hood

) young lads wanting a cheap quick first dub would jump at the chance , and the mot dudes at the garage i use would love it having a 1.0ltr badge on the back and going like stick

***Just so everyone is aware, this is not the feeling of everyone on UK-Polos.net! it is Purely the thoughts of individuals!***
as far as i'm concerned, i would declare everything concerned with changing an engine!
can understand where your coming from about the badge though, my G40 normally has a standard polo badge on it!
