Newbie, a quick question...

will the tailgate off a 4 door polo fit on a 3 door polo?

recently bought a valver and there is a bit of rust on the tailgate at the bottom of he window which would be impossible to get out properly without taking the window out. Is this hard to do? how much money would it cost to have the window taken out by a pro?

I thought it would be easiest to just get a tailgate without any rust on it and get it sprayed, how much would this cost to get it done by a professional and how w**k would it look if I got some cans from VW and did the best job I could? the colour is Black magic I think, LC9Z

Does anyone know of a decent, honest, reasonably priced body shop in the cardiff area?

I will put a thread up about my new car when I get some pics, its been a bit of a nightmare actually but I forget about that when im driving the thing, bloody brilliant! : )

What do you mean by 4 door? 5 door hatchback, or 4 door saloon?! :) I presume you mean the 5 door hatch, it should fit with no problems at all.

window should be very easy to remove, but it's easier to find a replacement rear hatch! a pro should do it in 15mins.

no offence, but I think it would look s**t unless you've done this before.

good luck with the new car, look forward to the pics!

cheers!

thanks! now I have a better idea of what to do.

where can i go to get the window taken out?

I was thinking that if i prepare the tailgate myself it would bring the cost of spraying down?

yes it would. taking the window out involves removing the seal and then it should drop out - however I'm not sure if it's glued on the mk4. can't remember. any garage should remove it for you.

to be honest the cost of getting the window removed might be more than just handing it to a spray shop.....
