Just out of interest can a dent be knocked out on these alloys or are they likely to crack?

They can take quite a bit of damage and still be repaired. It will involve the application of heat and is best left to a specialist. I thought that one of my rims was a right off but after a visit to BJV Engineering it's as good as new :D

The dent can be removed if it is small and still retain the polished finish.

If the dent is more than a couple of millimetres deep, it can only really be fixed by a bodyfiller typre repair. in which case, you'd have to paint it.
