Hi guys,

In my search for a new lovely red GTI, i stumbled across this one.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/179461.htm

Now look at the front:

Its missing headlight washers and fog lights....isnt that a bit odd?

To me it says its been in a front end crash and has had a badly matched repair!

What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Alex

Quite possibly. The lack of fogs and headlamp washers would worry me. And for that price (£3k ) it would be evident that the current owner knows something we don't know about the car. However, with a car of 90k miles, the car may have changed hands a fair few times, and he may not know that it was damaged.

Tis very possible lol ive found another which has 44k and is £3200 quite a bargain so im gonna see what the owner has to say about it.

Would be nice to have a GTI I can actually afford to purchase :P

Its definitely a bit odd that it doesn't have them. Best bet is to email the seller and see what they say. It would probably be fairly obvious is they are lying about it.

The drivers indicator and headlight are out of place and there's red paint behind the grille. Isn't it strange to replace the splitter and not do the other details?

It is a bit odd to say the least :P

It does look slightly odd with no washers or fogs :?

Plus i noticed there are no factory stickers on panel where bonnet catch is  ones like fan can start automatically, high voltage ignition system etc etc.

Yup, does appear that it may have had a new non-GTi bumper at some point.

However it does still have the xenons, when a lot of crashed and repaired GTi's tend to end up with normal 6N2 headlights due to the cost of them.

It's definately a GTI. One thing I noticed about my new front bumper is that it doesn't seem to have the holes in the front for the washers, is this easy enough to sort? The bumper was ordered according to my chassis number :?

Yep, I'm afraid so Max.

It was £170 when I bought mine less than 2 years ago
