A half hour job that took half a day

Had the day off work today so figured I would jack my car up, whip off the wheels...screw on the new mudflaps and have the car back on the road in a few hours....

It took me just over an hour to remove one wheel... It was so badly coroded to the hub that I had to bash the buggery out of it with a rubber mallet...loosen the nuts and drive the car about and jump up and down on it before it finaly popped off...

I guess the t*t who took the wheels off for the last set of tyres (proberably about 2 years ago) kinda forgot to use copper slip.....

The other back wheel took an equal length of time and effort to remove....thankfully the front has recently had a nice shiny pair of yokohamas so some other poor sod had the pleasure of braking the corosion for me...

Needless to say, the car is now sat back on its wheels complete with a good smear of copper slip greece.....

Rant over!

First time i took the rear wheels off the GTi - it was the same.

Be sure to take a bit of sandpaper and sand the hub then cooper slip.

Did the "garage" style thing and whipped a wirebrush on the end of a drill onto the wheel... then copperslip...
