I'm thinking to the future when I'll be looking to purchase a full system. Basically my criteria is that it is as quiet as possible, will give the best possible gains (can compromise on quietness here), have a cat and have a hidden tailpipe.

Manifold wise Supersprint still make the one for the GTI, but it is £200 more than the Raceland. Is this justified being specifically designed for the car?


Am I right in saying you need a centre section after this then the backbox? If so any recommendations that meet the above criteria? A full Supersprint system would of been great as I heard they were the best for gains and had a subtle exhaust note - sadly they have been 2 years out of production so that isn't an option. I also read that a de-cat on the GTI hardly makes a difference, plus I could be done without the hassle of having to fit a CAT coming MOT time.

the supersprint manifold is no longer in production. i'm trying to organise a deal to get them to put some parts back into a small production run but not had too much interest..

to create a full system, after the mani you would need a front pipe, then center pipe then a backbox

Ahh, so the group buy is just to get them back into production?

Can you mix and match exhaust systems?

basically yes.. I wanted to get a new exhaust for my GTi, thats why there is the carbonfibre grp n tail pipe on the list

The supersprint parts are all interchangeable with the std parts, as long as other manufacturers do the same i don't see any reason why you couldn't do this

Ok cheers for that. Anyone else got recommendations then? Would the manifold on it's own be severly restricted by the rest of the system?

do you know if his had been remaped?

Mines ran 132bhp standard so sounds like the exhaust needs to be changed with the manifold.

the raceland isn't designed for the GTi so it could be that there isn't an improvement from fitting it??

Hi there,
I got my exhaust replaced last week, I opted for a full custom system with sports cat, and am planning on doing the manifold as my next major mod. I'd have prefered to have done the manifold first (as i'd heard that this is where the biggest power gain can be got) but my old exhaust had other ideas.
I aint had the car on the rollers so dont know about any actual increases in bhp. But since the new sytem went on the car pulls through the gears so much better than it ever has done before.

Anyway, I think when Im ready to do the manifold I'll go for the raceland one as I doubt theres gonna be much difference performance wise between the two. And the £200 saving from if I'd bought the Superspint manifold could go towards my re-map
