Boot light....A solution...

I dont know if this is a common thing on the GTI, but my car doesnt have an interior boot light fitted....Its a real pain in the arse especially when you are trying to load CD's in the dark...

Well I found a solution today...

Whilst I had the passenger side interior panels off the car to do something else I had a rummage around on the wiring loom and found a stray connector that didnt have a home....

Low and behold, it gives off 12V when the boot is opened... So it appears its just going to be as easy as fitting a bulb to the cable and hey presto...my very own boot light!!!

Saves me having to hack into the 12V power socket supply!!!

Why doesnt the GTI have a boot light then? seems a bit odd.
My boot light isnt any think special, it looks as if the carpet in the boot holds it in place.

It is a bit odd they didnt fit one...My old Mk4 polo had a bootlight fitted in the carpet liner...

There is even a bracket to hold the light on the parcel shelf mounting bracket on the passenger side in the GTI...just no light fitting......Did VW forget to design that part?

I don't have a boot light. You can come and see for yourself if you like  not all of them have it.

Perhaps this is something else that can be put down to the pre-alignment issues, along with the seatbelts, HT leads and air air-conditioning/climate control items!

I've got a boot light, I remember having to take it out when I did the suspension.
